4/4/24 (swarm) Gieskes Klok & No Drum + Zerosum Inertia PLXNA2 + OAM Uncertainty + Lexicon PCM 70

video upload by Cfpp0

"Butterflies, bats, 16mm swarm: Gieskes Klok modulates itself and No Drum and Olivia Artz Modular Uncertainty, which modulates No Drum, while Klok gates No Drum."

You cand find additional Gieskes Kok module posts here.

This appears to be the first post to feature Olivia Artz Modular. Details on their modules follow via Perfect Circuit and Noisebug.

"Uncertainty from Olivia Artz Modular is a 2hp coin toss module; it is open source, with new, user-swappable firmware being developed. So, it will continue to grow and offer new functionality!

In the standard firmware, the top input accepts gates, triggers, or any signal between -5V and +5V. Based on whether the input is positive or negative, it uses two different types of logic to produce gates at the corresponding eight outputs. If the input is above +1V, then the module does eight differently-weighted "coin tosses"—one for each output. If the outcome of the toss is "heads," a +5V signal is output for as long as the input stays above 1V. If the input signal is -1V or lower, a slightly different coin toss algorithm is used, where the outputs are paired—if the result of the toss is "heads," the upper output of the pair in question sends out a signal, and if it's "tails," the lower outputs sends out a signal.

Alternate firmwares are available for free, and loading them is as easy as plugging in your module via the rear PCB USB connection, dragging on a file, and you're done. The first new official firmware is a VU meter—with the panel LEDs displaying the current voltage level, and each LED getting a dedicated gate output—somewhat like a multi-window comparator! Olivia Artz's Uncertainty module is a great way to add chance operations to your rack without sacrificing space.

UNCERTAINTY FEATURES

2HP chance module with alternate firmwares available
Default firmware uses two distinct coin toss algorithms to convert incoming bipolar signals into eight streams of outgoing gates
Open source
One CV input with 10-bit resolution
Eight gate outputs"

Random Listening

video upload by Todd Barton

"Ever wondered what the diffserence was among the various flavor randomness in the Buchla 266 Source of Uncertainty? Of course the faceplate graphics give a clue but I prefer listening to the different densities, distributions and ranges. Using the 1979 Modular Switcher this is possible to compare them in real time. Enjoy!

Buchla Sili Con Cellosax Model 298 By M.E.M.S. & Associates

video upload by Source Of Uncertainty

"A lengthy deep dive and demo of the Sili Con Cellosax module. I cover its functions, what it does within the specific patch it was designed for, and then I present an adaptation of the patch and perform with it using a guitar.

More information about the module: https://modularsynthesis.com/mems/298...

More information about The M.E.M.S. Project: https://www.memsproject.info/"

See the link above for additional info.

"This module detects musical phrases defined as continuous sound followed by a short period of silence It starts by counting musical phrases 1 to 7. They are indicated by the appropriate LED at the end of the phrase. After the 8th phrase the Go LED indicates and the mode switches to generating a Response pulse, End of Response pulse, and a Delayed End of Response output.

If silence is detected in this mode for approximately 15 seconds the Time Out LED indicates as a warning that this could be the last phrase. If silence continues for approximately another 15 seconds the Last Phrase LED indicates and the Response outputs no longer function.

Any new phrase detected either during a Time Out or Last Phrase reinitiates the Go mode where the cycle repeats. A System Initialize is required to restart the Phrase Counter."

Triglav Modular — Clockwork Card 208-5

video upload by Torigurafu

"The Clockwork Card is a timing control hub designed to fit into the slot of the Stored Program Sound Source Model 208.

Inspired by Charles Cohen’s looping techniques, this card aims to provide an accessible way to control timing and create interesting rhythms. It offers multiple clocking options, 30 preset pattern banks, and the ability to shift and rotate rhythmic patterns across different destinations. The card also features two special modes (CLIX and Uncertainty Mode), and allows for customisation through its USB-C port."

The MARF Files: Ep 5 - The Best Buchla Envelope Generator, Or Best Envelope Generator…EVER??!!???!?
video upload by Source Of Uncertainty

"In this episode I cover how to make simple envelope shapes with the MARF, and how to augment them with different CV sources to make them more dynamic and expressive.

I apologize for always saying the word 'decay' when I mean to say 'release' in regards to the ADSR envelopes. My Buchla based brain is always thinking in attack/decay terms.

Here is a link to a video where similar envelope types are used in a larger patch:"

Uncharted Space | Patching a 'Krell' on the System Cartesian

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"When it's about MakeNoise gear, I love to do special requests. So feel free to share your ideas. Obviously this is for privileged System Cartesian owners or anyone with a dual function generator, a source of uncertainty, a vco and a vca. So get your TTA/Buchla 200T series out. You don't need a sequencer.
Why not try something like this on the Tape & Microsound and use QPAS as a VCA! It will work too and you'll get amazing results with a cool Morphagene reel. Maybe even a single cycle wavetable reel. Go visit uncharted space and (don't) get lost."

An Update on Buchla & Tiptop Audio Including New Modules in the Works

via Tiptop Audio

"Hi everyone, 2023 is going to be interesting, we have plenty of things going on, so here is the mega update:

The 200t project moves forward full steam and we want to thank you for your support in 2022. We look forward to announcing later this year more of Don’s Buchla 200 series modules that are currently in development.

Up first is a new batch of 258t, 245t, 257t and 281t. These are going through final assembly steps and we expect to start shipping them to the shops very soon. We will start with the 258t, 245t and 257t this week, followed by the 281t toward mid/late March. As always, we are letting the shops know the quantity they will be getting so they can open up for additional pre-orders.

The electronic parts shortages haven’t eased yet and we are still experiencing limited supplies. Some of you folks have waited a long time for your order and these coming batches should be able to cover a good number of the back orders placed with the shops.
